Last of the 2020 Lilies

Was out in the yard earlier looking around at what is left of the flowers. I saw these two day lilies almost gone. The blooms are spent and that is all for 2020. But they will return next spring. The perennials always get cut back at the end of the summer. And they return in the spring. The rain helped these blooms last longer than usual this year. Hopefully we will have the same amount of rain next year.

I am never sorry to see the day lilies go because I love to see them in the spring, that is when they are the prettiest to me.

Yes I know. Just more of the ho-hum kind of day it seems to be for some reason. I love the yellow and green contrast.

Our lilies are all gone, it's sad to see them go! They are so beautiful, yet we have a promise they'll be back in the spring

You don't have any late summer or fall blooming plants? The magnolia tree in my front yard still has nice blooms on it, and the azaleas are still covered in flowers, although most of the blooms are starting to finally drop off. A few of the crape myrtles still have blooms, but most have dropped their flowers now.

Yes the butterfly bushes are still in full bloom. The rose of sharon bushes have a few blooms as well. The magnolia is done blooming for now. Crepe myrtles are finishing up, but still a few red blooms.

Mine will be cut back as soon as it's cool enough, along with other perennials. Meanwhile, I will enjoy summer as long as I can. Sad when it leaves.

Speaking of rain, I just looked and surprised to find it's raining. We sure need it. I'm glad the lilies lasted a long time this year. Enjoy the rain. Lovely picture.

@CarolDM It was on the forecast, but the last couple of days we didn't get anything of the rain forecasted. So, it's nice to see it. If the forecast is right, this should continue into tomorrow.
