Zen koan: A simple zen koan becomes hatched in the student

Do not be too chicken to lay your own eggs or to fetch them if you are a rooster

The Zen master asked his students: What is the noise of a chook clucking got to do with a rooster crowing? The students all took turns to answer, until one student didn't offer any answer at all, but going to the monastery pantry, he came out again, holding an egg. This was his answer. "Good", the master said, "Did you lay that one, just for me?" The student dropped the egg, and laid another one in his heart, being instantly enlightened, even as his egg dropped, both of them. In every question i life, there's an answer, immediate or no answer at all.

Yes, and sometimes the answer pops out in a surprising way, but only if we are open to receiving it like that.

@innertalks You're right. We should be ready and be sensitive to grasp the answer. It's the still small voice dictating us but if you don't know how to detect it you will miss it.

@Nakitakona If we keep the "ears" of our heart listening close to God, we should hear that voice then at most times. Sometimes, though, I also ask God to talk to me, when I feel the need.

We should not shirk from any responsibility and should embrace life in totality. Then life will also embrace us in a love hug! siva

This is generally true, I think, but we also need to grow in awareness enough for us to be able to recognise what are our responsibilities, and to own them, and even to want to take them on board too.

@Shiva49 Yes, we need both sides of us (inner and outer) firing on all cylinders to live a full life, as God, perhaps wants us to live too.

@innertalks Yes, for that we need to embrace a spiritual life though clothed in a human body to survive the elements here. When we lead a life in conflict with our inner knowing, we can never be on the right path - siva
