Thinking of writing a Children's Picturebook. Have any pointers?

I remember my mom telling me stories when I was a kid. We haven't had many picture books though and when I borrowed a few from our elementary library, I remember reading those to be one of the best memories I had as a kid. Have you had similar experiences? Anyway, there are many myLotters who are really good at writing and expressing their thoughts. I've been planning to write a picturebook for children ages 11 and up. I've created my character story and design but I just could not finalize the storyline I want to go through. So many paths I could take. Have you had any experience writing stories for children? Maybe you have some pointers? The image I uploaded is a picture design of my character first finding girl panties. (haha)

Lots of colour. Funny pictures are the best to grasp kids attention

Yeah, I figured that colorful art draws attention to a much younger audience, but there are all sorts of forms out there and depending on the story, we have to make sure that the color tone coincides with it, right? Are you into art? Thanks for your pointers though.

I will share when I have decided so or would not forget, but maybe more months are needed to finish it. (haha)

Do you create your own illustrations? I wanted to do a children's book but never did because I'd have to hire an illustrator and they are expensive.
