I know what you're thinking, how can a laptop remind me of anything. I am wishing and hoping that I will get my desktop PC back in good working order but in the meantime, this laptop is the one that arrived with me from Riga, Latvia three years ago. It shows me the day of the week and the month in Latvian. More about the laptop later for now the purpose of this post.
The same as August, September brings back sad memories. What would have made things easier three years ago when my husband Martin died on August 17, 2017, That families could just have a sentimental and sad goodbye with a pastor at the gravesite. It is bad enough going through all this but then also all the friends with well-meaning intentions and the funeral meal at a restaurant.
When this day ended I was about to just fall off my feet. But then Latvian tradition has it that the spirit walks the earth for 40 days and you have another ceremony this time just family at the gravesite for the final goodbye. I thought all that was never going to end and I was miserable. Then the pastor at the gravesite said we would never see Martin again on earth in our lifetimes and I knew he had come to me, he was in my dreams and he would continue to be with me. SIGH
Then came the following months and my first Christmas alone. I did not expect to have my stepdaughter Mara with me at Christmas she always had her plans and Martin and I spent Christmases together just us two and our cat Sid. So knowing I was going to be alone I bought this used laptop for entertainment so I would not be sitting alone in one room. I worked at my desktop PC upstairs and I also had a video player there so pretty much I was living in only one room. The Internet connection worked well between the upstairs and the4 downstairs so that was no problem and I sat downstairs and watched Christmas movies. So when I moved the laptop came with me and now I am working on it again.
And they say that time flies when you're having fun SIGh I was still faced with selling the house and carrying Sid through three airports but time has flown anyway so sorry for my quiet absence just some more stuff I needed to get over and bounce back online again. Of course, the weather was not helping any and after several days of strong wind and rain, my sciatica kicked in and started stabbing me as well.

Sorry about your loss. We too have a mourning period of 40 days in our culture for our loved ones.
Hope to see you more here. And hope the sciatica subsides down soon.

Sorry I am late seeing this one. Those dates can really set us back sometimes. I know you have good memories to hold onto. I lost my Dad in September of 2017. I know the pain that comes and I wish you good days and memories as often as possible.
