I don't think I will

As I said in another post, today was the first day of my 16:8 fasting. I broke my fast at slightly past 12:30, which started the 8 hour period of eating. I just had dinner a little while ago, shirataki noddles with meat sauce (with onion and bell pepper that I added to it). I inputted that into my little food diary on my fitbit. I'm stuffed. Every night I've been treating myself with a bryer's smart carb bar or three small sugar free reese's cups. I think I'll skip that tonight. It's 5:30 and my cut off time is right at 8. I'll sip on water if I start feeling peckish. I feel really good about this. I've had 24 net carbs for today's meal, walked for thirty minutes with an avg heart rate of 100, and then did a little zumba class on youtube.

That is awesome, I know intermittent fasting works well for some...but I found it made me feel really low..and I actually didn'tlose any weight..so it's not for me.

I guess I will see what it will do for me. It doesn't seem to help me lose then I won't do it. I've heard of people doing a 48 hour fasting too, but I don't think that's for me.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Why did you switch from your low carb program?

@snowy22315 I'm still doing the low carb plan. Fasting is part of the keto diet, or it can be. I'm not saying that 16:8 fasting is something I'll do long term, but I'm going to try it for a few weeks. It's not really all that different from the way I used to eat a couple of months ago. Sometimes I wouldn't eat until 2 pm.

@kobesbuddy That is a good thing, provided you are still eating every day.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm never hungry, while eating low carb meals for diabetes.

@Tina30219 I agree. I'm lucky that I don't have a lot of fat around my thighs and under my arms, but that also means that most of it concentrates around my belly. I've been doing some ab exercises to help with that.

Yes, and it's not really difficult. I haven't felt like eating the ice cream bar that I normally eat at night. Even if it's only 5 carbs, I'm not craving it like I used to.

I did, I just need to do a little better about either HIIT exercise or walking more.

I am losing a little less than 1 lb each day doing this. Today I'll actually be cheating a little as I eat soft fried potato chips as part of my dinner. I also will be walking for awhile so that I can burn some calories and hopefully negate any ill effects.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's really great. I can't walk more than about 50 feet; so I have that working against me in the weight loss department.

You've got a plan and you're sticking to it - that's great! Even better if you're feeling good about it - that's the way it should be. Keep on going!!!!

@ScribbledAdNauseum I think lifestyle change is a healthier way to say it than just "diet". I kinda do the 16:8 unintentionally - and loosely. I do think it helps a lot. That's great you're so close to your goals - you got this !

Thanks! Yes, I do't really consider this keto diet as a diet. For me it's a lifestyle change, and one that I feel really good about. I'm not going to do the 16:8 fast indefinitely, but I do plan to come back to it whenever I need to. I'm 12 lbs away from my first weight loss goal.

I didn't know I was doing this type of fasting in the past either. I don't normally feel hungry until around 11a-2 pm anyway.

Thank You. I'm not trying to shed a lot of lbs fast because I know that will just come back to bite me.
