Ordered a bulk shipment of unsalted whole peanuts for the birds. They arrived today. Always cheaper to buy in bulk.
These five pound bags will last a few months. And they will attract many birds to the deck feeder.
Doors are open again today. I can hear the blue jays before they get here. They make aloud announcement to let me know I suppose.
Enjoying the nice weather. Have a good day everyone.

I know it's cheaper to buy them in bulk, but I just buy them one bag at a time. I tend to only give peanuts out "in person" (and the squirrels know that, because they come running when they hear my garage open), because I don't like giving them to the blue jays. I will toss one to a cardinal, though.

Yes they are crazy expensive in the stores. I usually buy sunflower seeds to mix but it attracts the sparrows, which I don't like. But the doves like the seeds. I will probably get a small bag. No squirrels here. I like the feeder. It allow me to get the camera setup inside for pics.

@CarolDM it amazes me when I hear that some areas in our country don't get squirrels or not many of them. We have them everywhere in Michigan to my knowledge.

i need to gimme some 'f those. the big sunflower seeds 'n pumpkin seeds, too. first i've gotta repair/replace some feeders. seems the ferals 've been tryin' to catch the sweet birds 'f late'n whilst i've yet to see 'em successful, they've managed to bust quite a few feeders. 's well 's take a few 'nplanned dips'n the pond.
caught a blue jay jest sittin' here'n the bradford pear, all camouflaged 'mong the leaves. eyeballin' the herd 'f ferals surroundin' the pond, countin' those hidden down'n the vines. i've threatened the hubs live if'n he does not stop feedin' 'em here'n my lil sanctuary. they've cat food out by the garages/shop, but he's been given 'em his milk out'n the porch from his cereal.

It won't be warm enough here for the doors to be open until Saturday and I'll miss it as I'm working. Maybe I'll do some weeding when I get home.

@CarolDM I was out in it a little bit and before we did the one window job I put some mulch around there plants I planted a few weeks ago so the lawn care people wouldn't weed whack them down by mistake.

One question, How do you keep the squirrels from getting them? They would probably last about 5 minutes around here with the squirrel population.

It must be beauftul to hear them coming. I am so glad you got your order delivered. Hope you can take picture of the birds while they're feeding themselves.

The birds will love the peanuts. As you know, we used to feed our chipmunk some peanuts.

I once had a bird feeder too long back along with water. But no birds came to it.
We have a few pigeons around but I dunno why they dint eat. So I just stopped keeping after that.
