Miracles and reason are different things.

Once upon a time, many decades ago, a giant gourd grew in my garden. I watched it grow with awe. I thought it was more than a miracle. I hadn´t even sown the seed. And one of those days my godfather came to see me. He was a reknowned philosopher so I thought that he´d know everything about the profane and of the divine. He looked at the gourd and asked me whether I understood that my gourd was much more expensive than if I went to buy one. Friends, I never could look at him with the same respect again. There is a miracle in everything that grows. And miracles are bigger if you are not expecting them. What do you think of this?

I think your godfather knew what he was talking about.

I definitely agree. Your gourd was an unexpected miracle.

Are gourds edible? Did you mean you lost respect for your godfather? I am a little confused with the sentence " Friends, I never could look at him with the same respect again. "
