A trip to the hardware store

Went to the hardware store this morning. Got conformation Mercury is going retrograde. I always know. After the paint I was having mixed had to be redone because they guys computer went down. I was like humm yesterday I was having all kinds of computer problems. Two people that were going to come over had to cancel at the last minute, which they are not the kind of friends to flake. I check my chart and sure enough retrograde. Great, not.
This is a old fashioned local hardware store, not Lowes or Home depot. I started looking around and found a set of cast irons pans. I know what I'm getting myself for my birthday. Yeah.
What is your favorite cooking wear? Are there any old fashioned local stores in your area? Thanks for stopping by.
Oh, and when I was pulling back in I saw my neighbor kid checking out my Halloween decorations:) It's amazing how sometimes just a little trip can cheer you up.

I like using a crockpot. We have Ace Hardware. Is that old fashioned?

Sort of.lol It was the first chain hardware store back in the 80's before Lowe's and home hepot.

We have Home Depot here but it is a store that has so many things. It is not just a hardware store. Lowe's I do not know at all.

@Hannihar This place has stuff from local merchants like jewelry and homemade candy. I love it. Sometimes I go just to support my local people.

Yes we do. I just prefer this store because it feels like going back in time. Its one of the last mom and pop type hardware stores left. It has been open since the 1940's and when you walk in the door an bell jingles. The staff is super nice not trying to sell you stuff. Yesterday when the paint guy didn't have one fo the color's I needed, even recommended another store I could go to. You don't get that at the dyi stores. I go to Micheal's a lot for my canvas painting supply's and its just not the same. If you have time maybe try to find a an older local place and see if you notice a difference? @DearAphrodite wow, not everyone could recommend a place nowadays. Sellers nowadays they all think of how to make people keep buying their own products only

I hope to be able to visit Europe someday. So many old places here are gone. I have another friend on facebook from the Netherlands and it just looks like your culture has more of an appreciation for the past.

I love the hardware store, Hugh M woods was my favorite place to shop. I can't cook on cast iron, don't know why but I have some Tefal pans and I love them. They cook so evenly but the handles are always coming loose!!!
Halloween, gosh I have got to get the decorations up but I suspect my daughter and the kids will take care of that while I am on vacation next week. Glad you got a little cheering up.

Thank you lady. One of the first fights my husband and I had was about teflon pans. lol He prefers stainless steal which I hate because I can't cook on them so we compromised on cast iron. Its the medieval times here. lol Sounds like you got a full house lady. Have a great vacation. Hope to see some more pics of Galveston.
