Hi all! So, to break up the monotony around here mom and I have been taking to driving little "day trips". Well, we don't feel safe going in anywhere quite yet, so the question has been where has something outdoors - or can by driven past that is interesting. We did a back road trip to a distant town to go through an A&W rootbeer drive through. We got to look at fall leaves, it was pretty and... something to do. We've driven around this area - sections of this town that are residential that we haven't seen before. So that's interesting, too. We also went about an hour South of here to mom's hometown. I also spent some years growing up there. I got to see the farm my mom grew up on. I had maybe seen it once or twice before. My dad and my mom's family didn't get along while my dad was alive - so we weren't allowed to see it much. It was nice to see what my mom talks about. And I'm happy that the place is good repair. I was surprised that I recognized some of the buildings in town, I thought I was too young to remember much when we lived there. Are you taking any drives these days? Have you found another way to occupy time? Photo: Mine

I remember visiting the town I grew up in years ago. It was interesting to drive around and see the neighborhood again. Much looked the same. The people who bought our home took out our maple tree and got rid of our perfectly good basketball net. We had some great times in that driveway playing B-ball. No real drives for me during this pandemic although I did visit the cemetery where my parents are which is a 40 minute drive from my home.

I'm happy you got to revisit your hometown, though how dare they take down your basketball hoop?! Oh, I'm sorry for your loss, though I do hope that the drive and visit went

@FayeHazel Ha, ha. guess the buyers did not have children. It's a beautiful drive and the area is out in a rural area with many trees. Seeing the leaves change color is a bonus!

@dgobucks226 Oh yes, seeing the color change is a big bonus. Do you still have leaves on trees now?

We take long drives, too. I'll bet you had a nice trip down memory lane. I enjoy reading, exercising, and cooking these days.

@FayeHazel Those drives are so nice. My favorite was to the beach dn apple orchards most recently. Yes, I try new recipes all the time. I can taste them just from reading them.

@FayeHazel I was going to ask if your relatives still lived there. So there's a chance someday you could see more of it.

@xander6464 Ah yes, mom said that maybe we would be allowed sometime. I have no fondness of those people. But they don't really know me. Last I knew it was mom's brother's widow who lives out there in one of the houses. Mom isn't sure who's in the other house. The barn used to home dairy cows. The bit of yard closer to the road used to be orchard apples and grapes , my great-grandfather put in. But his son, my grandpa - took the trees and vines out. I don't know why you would do that.... Barn needs some paint though, that bothers me.

Thanks! I've heard many stories about it. Only been there, (actually up in the yard) twice. Even though we are estranged from those people, I'm happy it's still in good repair and that it's family living there

Nope, unfortunately. Our place back in lockdown due to spike up covid cases and we are only allowed one person go out buy groceries. Hopefully there'll be a good drive after lockdown ease.
