Oh, baby, is my back hurting! Time for an x-ray. It’s also time for another song with “baby” in the title. I’m going to spare everyone with the preferred version and go with the original for today’s song. I grew up with this song, fiddles and dobro blazing, by Johnnie and Jack. And their version was a cover!!! I’m in the interest of saving people from headaches, so I will NOT use that version. The original goes back to 1953, a year before the Johnnie and Jack country hit (#1 hit), with a doo-wop vocal group called the Four Knights. They had a measure of radio success, appearing on the radio shows hosted by Arthur Godfrey and Red Skelton, but this was their biggest recording. You learn something new every day. Glad I did!
