That’s what NJ Chic will say about this one. It’s before her time. Heck, the original is before my time! But for your listening and dancing pleasure, here’s today’s song that has “baby” in the title.

The blues get turned on their head here. Stereotypically, a blues song is a line with chord I, line repeated with chord III, and second line with chord IV. “Blues songs” are usually mournful “my baby left me, she didn’t say goodbye, and I feel so lonesome I’m gonna die” things.
Enter Ivory Joe Hunter, who makes that pattern into a great love song. And the blues singers were probably thinking, “Huh? ‘Since I met you baby, I’m a happy man’?????” 
My first introduction to this song was when country singer Sonny James covered it (pretty much faithful to the original). Any way you go, this is a simple and sweet love song.

Ivory Joe also wrote “Empty Arms,” which was superficially sad sounding but actually happy.
