Spot the little lizards

We’ve seen quite a lot of little lizards in our travels. I’m always on the lookout for them but unless they move you are battling to pick them up. Like just about everything else up here, they are pretty ‘red’. Can you spot the small lizards in the top two photos? The bottom photo shows a monitor goanna, which is also called a ‘racehorse goanna’ because of its speed. It was near the swimming hole at Dales Gorge and didn’t seem too concerned about all the people. He popped under a rock at one stage but forgot to pull his tail in.

@crazyhorseladycx I'm glad we went when we did, as a few more years and we'll be even less able.

The monitor went under the rock and I thought that would be the last we'd see of it but within a few seconds it came out again.

@DocAndersen I kept losing it in the viewfinder. I took a photo from back a bit in the hope that I could crop it and it would still be in focus.

It took me a while to get that photo as I had trouble being sure I had him in the viewfinder. I took a shot from further away to be sure I captured him thinking I could crop it if I missed him with a zoomed shot.

That's a perfect post for today as it's international lizard day or something like that. Those are nice pictures of the different lizards. I smiled to see the tail in the bottom right picture.

The little lizards in the top photos blend into the rock so well that they are difficult to see.

Great pictures. I don't mind lizards as long as they don't plan on crawling on me during the night!

I guess maybe some keep them as pets if they are able to capture them first.

Nice shots you got in there they are perfectly camouflaged in the background. I cam see how hard they can be taken picture at since they are really fast movers once they feel threatened.
