I got my first light therapy lamp recently...

...that I'm trying out right now. It's a LED light and had several strengths to pick from once you're used to it plus you can set a timer. To start with recommended the lowest setting and for ten minutes.
I couldn't get the time to begin and first want to get back up so will keep track. I may use this with my Christmas cactus too for extra light but will wait and see.
Does anyone else have one of these types of lights?
They help when the sun isn't present as much as in the summer months.

It's supposed to be helpful for those that hate winters or that are affected by less sunlight. Sometimes taking more vitamin d helps but not always enough.
While I don't tend to get depressed I'm never happy when winter approaches and sometimes want to sleep more than needed so it was suggested to me that I get one. My husband does get depressed so I'm hoping he will use it too.

@LadyDuck it could be like some preventative medication where it helps below the surface in a sense.

@crazyhorseladycx my hubs needs it worse than me but I also have other symptoms that come when it gets colder that this unit might help.

It may be that some didn't really needs it or the brand they bought didn't work right. I will know more after using it a while to see if I can tell a difference or not. It wasn't expensive so that's good too.

Yes, I've heard of these lights, but have never used one before.

I've wondered about then but never considered it for myself before now. My counselor suggested it knowing winters aren't my favorite season.

@MarshaMusselman For me, winter-time is when I have far too much time to think. And when I do, it most generally gravitates to worrying or negative things in my buried past.

Just heard it now. What benefits do we get from having it?. We have led lights but how does this one differ?

It helps people not get depressed or sad when the sun isn't around as much like during our winter months.

@florelway we can go weeks without seeing the sun but at least it's not months like Alaska.

We're will see how well it works after winter. I'm sure I'll use it more on those gloomy days.

Then I'll make sure to give my plant extra light when it's cloudy for days on end. I've talked with people that have them and heard good things.
I don't really get depressed but would like more motivation through the winter months and this might help.

I've been mylotting when using the light. I think you need your eyes open but not look directly at it for the benefits to be there.

I hope so and if not then at least it wasn't too expensive.

I wondered about then but hasn't thought much of getting it for myself. Will see how well it works out.
