Let's Talk Vacuum Cleaners

I am in need of a good vacuum cleaner. The one I have is okay, but I really need one that has great suction. Mine doesn't really pull up the pile on my carpet. It always looks flat and walked on. About 10 years ago, before I moved in with my brother, I had a great vacuum. I got it off of the HSN website so I could make payments on it and for the life of me, I can't even remember what brand it was. So, I need your advice. What kind of vacuum cleaner do you have?

I have 3 cordless Dyson animal stick vacs. I love them. Super suction and light enough to lift over your head for corners

3 of them? Really? Is it one for each floor?

@marlina lol No I have one in Florida too, I do have a tri-level house and I do need one more for the middle floor. It is just so much more convenient to have one on each floor. I have thought about getting the shark cordless but I am not sure it is anywhere near as powerful as my Dyson. I think I need to get one for the cottage in PA too lol I do love them.

I have three. All different sizes. The main one is a Dyson. Love it.

I would love a Dyson but they are so expensive. I may look on one of the shopping networks and see if they have any. That way I could pay on it monthly.

@simone10 I shop around and look for sales. They are well worth the money. And there are others out there. I use a Shark for my pet vacuum. A hand held one that is good too.

I cannot recommend the one that I have, although we do like it, but they are no longer sold. We have a kenmore, and Sears is long gone closed now. I hope that you get some good suggestions.

@simone10 My first kenmore, which was a top of the line model, lasted me 24 years. I am hoping for another 24 years on the current model, we are about a third of the way into that total.

@simone10 Yes, it does. I bought it specifically because it said it would pick up dog hair. I've had it for years. It cost me $20 at the time.

I'm still trying to decide. I've always wanted a Dyson but really hate to part with the money. I still haven't decided.

I'm like you. They are still too expensive even though they have been on the market for a while.

My husband and I have an eltrolux. I am not sure if they really make them, anymore. But, I am sure you'll find something you like. It's amazing what can hide in a carpet. My husband is so grateful we just have an area rug in our living room. because the rest of the house is tile. He never thought he'd like tile, but we bought this house anyway and now he loves it.

i've a shark. from my 'xperience, the flattened carpet 'tis most oft loads 'f hairs'n the beater bar, not a suction issue. 'tis simple to remedy. though a tad time consumin'.

I have a Hoover. Check Consumer Reports. They list some great vacuums. You might be able to get issues at your library.
