Did You Think It Was Scary?

The movie "The Exorcist" came out in the 70s. How do I remember? Because I remember there was actually a line of people standing outside the theater waiting to get in to see it and I was in that line! At any rate, it seems this movie has become a part of the collection of movies to watch for Halloween. But I don't really think it's all that scary. After you've seen that green vomit so many times, all you think about is the poor person who had to clean that mess up. However, I remember watching a movie once about a vampire stalking the streets of the USA in the 70s (I think it was "The Night Stalker"). That movie did scare me. I wore a cross around my neck for weeks. So! Do you think "The Exorcist" is a scary movie? I don't think it belongs in the Halloween collection. On the plus side, I do think the Tubular Bells theme song for for the movie was and still is outstanding!

I remember seeing it. It was more shocking to me than scary. What scared me the most was Psycho. It caught me by surprise from the beginning to the end.

Psycho was the movie that had me scared of showers for a long time. Forget it! I'll take a bath and I'm not using the shower curtain.

@cmoneyspinner Exactly! I still shower with the bathroom door closed. I used to lock it.

OMG. I know this image. I know the theme and I can't bare to hear much of it . I didn't actually watch it until mid 80s - high school. I was doing my homework at the kitchen table in the middle of the night when everyone else was asleep. The TV was on, and a commercial came on for The Exorcist as it was going to on the following week. OMG, I FROZE. I could barely get to my bedroom after that and couldn't stand to be in the dark for a long time . I'm not religious anything and that movie scared the heck out of me. Maybe because it was my first "real" horror movie. I grew up on the cheesy Elvira's Movie Macabre stuff .

You grew up with Elvira? I grew up with M T Graves. Isn't that a corny name? M T Graves (empty graves ... get it?). The horror movies came on every Saturday night. I would stay up and watch with my sister. As long as my big sister was with me, I wasn't scared.

@cmoneyspinner Great name! I'm not familiar with M T Graves - I'm not sure if his show was out here. I think Elvira came on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon - so it wasn't during the night. Many of the movies were corny and laughable so they weren't too scary .

I too am old enough to recall going to the theater to see this. I may have been too young but a bad cousin took me. It was scary to me as I was very young. Now it is still scary. But the movie is legend along with the music I agree.

Yes, it was very scary for me. I remember I kept on putting my hands before my eyes.
