My last but one discussion was on snakes. That reminds me how superstitious our people can be! I used to home tutor a student of our school. That particular evening, a big snake came to the courtyard. A particularly devout tenant cried "Ma Manasa, Ma Manasa!" and brought a bowl of milk for the reptile. His "Goddess" instead of being grateful bit his hand. The house owner and neighbours had to hire a car and rush the "devotee " to the hospital. His life was saved but I hope he learnt a lesson that evening. In recent months, some people thought cow urine was the remedy against Covid 19. They themselves drank it and made many others drink it. When scientists of big countries like USA , Russia and UK are still struggling to find a vaccine the so called devotees found it falling behind cows!
