Day 87
Promise 546
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
When something good happens, we want it to go on forever. We don’t want the experience to end. We know everything must end.
Jesus had been with His disciples for forty days after His resurrection. The time came for Him to go back to heaven. The disciples asked if He would restore the kingdom to Israel. He told them it wasn’t for them to know the times and seasons, only His Father in heaven knew those things. Instead, He told them the Holy Spirit would come on them and they would be His witnesses. After He said that, He ascended to heaven. The disciples stood gazing after Him.
Angels stood by them and told the disciples Jesus would return the same way He left.
As Christians, we long for the day when Jesus will return in the clouds as the angels promised.
When you see the signs Jesus said would happen, you look up and hope to see Him return in the clouds. Because you believe His promise, you know He will come back in the same way He left.
Until then you have the Holy Spirit, also promised, to help you be His witnesses wherever you go.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be your faithful witness while I wait for Jesus’ return in the clouds the same way He left. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

That is true, God promises still stand. He is a promise-keeper. When He left, He sent us helper, that is the Holy Spirit.
