How can anyone take seriously a Presidential candidate, whether or not he is the Incumbent, who threatens legal action if the authorities in various states don't stop counting votes when he tells them to?
Surely the procedures used to work out who has won an election are entirely in the hands of the officials who manage that election, and they should always be free to do so without any threat from the candidates involved, whatever their status. That is always how it is done in democracies - countries where that is not the case tend to be far from democratic.
It was always known that this election would be different from preceding ones due to the Covid pandemic - far more people would choose to vote by mail than in person, with the result that more ballots would need to go through the somewhat cumbersome process of being checked and verified before they could be counted - there is no quick way to open a million envelopes!
It was also appreciated at an early stage that more Democrats than Republicans would prefer to vote by mail than in person, and this was bound to lead to vote counts taking an interesting course, with Republican totals predominating at an early stage with Democrat votes tending to catch up and possibly overtake as the mail-in votes were added in - assuming that they were handled in that order, which did not necessarily have to be the case.
For a candidate to claim that this process is in any way fraudulent, and to demand that it be stopped when it looks as though he is going to lose, is simply beyond the pale. It would be the greatest electoral injustice ever if Trump is allowed to get away with this appalling behaviour.
