To celebrate Scotland, and our great myLotter @JimBo452020 who's from that fine country, I'm counting down my ten favorite musicians who hail from Scotland. Most of you are enjoying this because you know it means one thing: NO COUNTRY MUSIC! Win some, lose some. At any rate, here's today's Scottish singer. #8: Annie Lennox If you're old enough to remember when it happened, that thunderbolt that was "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" when it appeared on MTV. It propelled the band the Eurythmics to international fame. The voice on that track, and all the other Eurythmics songs, belonged to Annie Lennox. And man, what a voice!!!! The Eurythmics wasn't a "band" as much as a duo: Lennox and Dave Stewart. As a band they weren't around all that long (trivia: they formed the band in Wagga Wagga, Australia!) But what an impact! Lennox continued a successful solo career (remember, people can have success outside the United States and it counts ), and in 2011 was awarded the OBE...as much for her humanitarian work as her singing. Annie Lennox, OBE Born December 25, 1954 Aberdeen Don't you just love this song:

I have always been a fan of Annie Lennox. No matter whether she has been solo or in a band, I like her stuff. Nuff said. I did a little cover of "Sweet Dreams," but it was more of a cover of Marilyn Manson's version. Both of their versions are MUCH more to write home about for sure. But I enjoyed the guitar work on what was otherwise not really a guitar song.

My sister listened and then I became a fan in the late 80s.
