Here's another musician in the series of favorite Scottish musicians, which is celebrating Scotland and our Scottish myLotter @Jimbo452020 (and if you haven't read his stuff, you should, 'cause he's funny). Yesterday I mentioned a Scotland/Australia connection and that it would show up again in the countdown. Well, here it is again with today's musician! #7: Colin Hay Do you come from a land down under? No, Colin, you don't. That's right, the Men At Work frontman was actually born in Scotland. He and his family moved to Australia in 1967. From there, he formed the band Men At Work, which became international superstars thanks to their fun songs and quirky MTV videos. The band's popularity diminished and Hay is the only original member left (flautist/saxophonist Greg Ham died of a heart attack in 2012). Hay's enjoyed other solo success, too, including a number of appearances in the TV series Scrubs. So now you know why Hay made that face in the "Down Under" video when he sang, "He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich." Colin Hay Born Colin James Hay June 29, 1953 Saltcoats, North Ayrshire Lead singer/songwriter for Men At Work One more time with this great song:

I don't know any Scottish musicians, but Irish ones yes. The Irish seem to get all the press for some reason.

I think there are a few more on the list you'll know....but, as you said, not necessarily as "Scottish" musicians.

That's so interesting. I didn't know he was originally from Scotland. I really liked that group in the 1980s.I had the album with "Land Down Under" on it. My sister and I even saw them in concert when they came to Atlanta some time in the 1980s.

I enjoy the Scottish accents and remember this song. I have often listened to the oldies for years now.
