A young lady named Shannon credits her younger sibling who alerted her that someone was up to no good while the sisters were walking the streets in Mitcham England. A young girl was on the verge of being kidnapped by an older male person when the criminal allegedly (since a suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.) attempted to grab the mouth of the young girl. Shannon then walked up to the man and she asked him "What are you doing with her? and told him to "Let her go." as she was filming the incident with her camera likely from a cellphone. The suspect then fled the scene after he saw that he was being filmed by Shannon. Thanks to social media, the police in Mitcham were able to arrest the suspect. The controversy that came out of Shannon's actions is that the police are afraid that the citizens are going to become vigilantes. I guess the authorities in that region are afraid that their citizens will be taking the Batman character too seriously.

I think that social media and smartphones can be used wisely to prevent crimes and to show proof of crimes being committed. I would still worry if the suspect would be armed and shoot or knife the one doing it.

Good that she did that. Often the police come when there“s nothing to do.

I agree with you since many police officers in America are telling the citizens to carry a weapon to stop a criminal since the response time is not guaranteed to be fast.

Smart phones are not always a bad thing. It's how we use it. Like her, she use it to save people. If she didn't do what she did, who knows what might have happened to the poor girl.

You are correct since the entertainment industry likes to point out the bad things technology is used for.

While it might be a bit controversial, the young victim was very lucky not to be abducted.
