Are you animated enough while you speak?

Iam referring to public speaking or speaking in front of a group of people. Do you think you are an animated speaker, meaning you use gestures a lot and use facial expressions, your voice varying depending on the points you are stressing, etc. I think I am an animated speaker since I use a lot of gestures when I speak in front of a people or anywhere else. I believe that if you don't walk your talk people will soon fall asleep. Have you ever tried speaking in front of a group? If you are a teacher or public speaker, I think this is not a problem, but yet there are teachers who come across as boring because they don't use enough body language to get the lessons understood.

I have spoken to a group of people before and it felt okay. I mean I am not afraid of speaking in public, but I don't love it either.

I think it's more to rhetoric. If you have the skill, people would still listen despite how you move around. Also saying a teacher as boring because they didn't move too much is wrong. It's how you deliver the lessons, not how you move around in class.

I gave several tours of our church and cemetery 2 years ago and people seem to enjoy my talks so I guess I am animated enough.

I was a teacher for forty year. So, yes, I have spoken in front of groups. I don't agree with you. You don't have to stand still like a stick, but a lot of gesticulating is ridiculous. When I had trainee teachers who did that, I told them to restrain their movements. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask someone to film you while you're talking for a longer time. Maybe you'll see yourself that continuous movements of body parts does not have to be positive. It makes the people nervous who have to look at you all the time. And, as I've already mentioned, it can make the speaker look ridiculous. Pupils may enjoy such a performance, of course, and will soon make fun of you by copying you.

It's good to use body language, it helps your nerves and interesting but too much body language makes it ridiculous. I do use gesture, but not a lot.

I would say yes although I may not use a lot of gestures I might bring some things to help me make my point.

I don't think that I am an animated speaker as I don't speak much in front of a group of people. But too much of something is not good.
