Driving Back to My Home City

After a long and persistent request from my daughter, I finally decided to drive home yesterday. It was over an hour of driving. We bought 2 boxes of Yema and Ube Buko Pie from one of the stores in our place so we have something to bring to our relatives. Her plan was to go to the beauty parlor for some hair treatment but upon reaching there, she was scheduled on the following day (that is today). We decided to go to the mall instead and have some nail treatment and massage. It was 7 in the evening and malls are closing earlier because of the pandemic. So we decided to have our dinner in another restaurant. It was the second time that I came home after the pandemic and I noticed that the traffic here is heavier than in the current city where we currently resides. Buy I certainly love being home.

In England we are currently in the second lockdown and all non essential shops and businesses have shut down again. My Mum can't go to the hairdressers until after December 2nd.

That's sad especially that the holiday is fast approaching. Though these restrictions has great effect on the people's income but it is necessary to implement control over the activities to prevent further spread. Thank you for dropping by.

@sharonelton Oh, we have a similar app here in our place. We go online and choose the items and place it in the cart. But the difference is, they deliver the groceries in our doorstep for an additional fee. thank you for sharing this information.

Good thing you are able to visit family there, as well as run errands and make appointments. We are not entirely on a lockdown here, but traveling can be tricky because of the surge of the cases. It's been a long time since I had yema and buko pie. When I went to the Philippines to visit my parents, I forgot that I want to try these goodies. I was able to get my much coveted hopiang monggo though. Maybe next year when this pandemic is over.

The strict rule when entering the border back to my working place is what prevents me from coming home often. Aside from the fact the gasoline is also expensive. I have the papers but it is disturbing to be checked every time so I don't want to try. But so far, the first time I came home, I wasn't checked. I don't know the reason but probably because of the Front liner ID I hang in front of my car.

@Raine38 Yes, that's one of the privileges of being a front liner. But it also has a price. Like, being recalled during my birthday and forced leave last April just to become part of the skeletal force of the office for monitoring purposes.

@ARIES1973 It's the same for my sister there. She is a registered nurse, and all she needs to show is her PRC license and they let her go through. Sometimes in grocery stores, they even allow her to go ahead of the line even though she tells the other shoppers that she is fine waiting for her turn. They would insist that she goes on ahead so she can go home and rest. It was very touching.

If there is no important things to do and we have elderly people or babies in our home, it is better to stay where we are at the current time. I can go home anytime but I choose not to, to prevent issues from emerging.

@jobelbojel You need to get a swab test before going back. Don't worry, you also ask those with cars if they can let you go with them or you can rent a private car.

@ARIES1973 exactly. My cousin would post message on her FB telling everyone that she is travelling to Manila and those who want to go home, can tell her. I wanted to but my problem is how can I go back to Manila

If I am to decide, I prefer not to go anywhere at this time. But it was my daughter's request so I need to go. I just brought my laptop with me so I can work anywhere.

You are right. I really miss my home, my room, my bed and my working area. Though I have with me in my current work location the two most important parts of my home, my children.

@rakski Yes, me and my children are renting on the place because we work there. It was an adjacent province within the same region. I am working in the place for 10 years and when my children finished their studies, they also look for a job in that place, so we were still together.

Thank you @sophie09. I love being home but as of now, I can't come home everyday like I used to because of the pandemic. I need to stay in the place where I work and renting a place there.

It's wonderful to be able to go home. My sister haven't been home for months now. Now that we're under partial lockdown, she needs to wait until it is lifted. If the positive cases continue to soar, she would have to wait longer. Cherish your time with your family. It's good you're able to meet them.

Well, actually my husband always visit us in our new place. My children are with me in that place and they are also working there. The only thing I worried about is that our house here is not well maintained.

Do you need to accomplish the travel requirements?

The travel requirements depend on the rules of the place you are going to visit. These rules can be found in the Inter Agency Task force for the Management of Infectious Diseases Resolutions. Each region has their own AITF and the rules varies. For example, from our place, you want to go to Manila, you will be required to submit yourself for a swab test. Since, we are only moving within the region, we are only required to present a letter of exemption when going back.

@ARIES1973 It is really hassling to travel in a far distance. I want to visit Imus, Cavite. But then, the requirements are troublesome.
