Dundee Michigan police officer Hunter Chirillo was at the right place at the right time on Saturday evening.
The 17 year old teenager who is from Adrian Michigan was ready to jump off a bridge on U S Highway 23 when he told the police officer that he was ready to take his own life.
After officer Chirillo asked the dispatcher to send additional units to assist him, he had a friendly chat with the teen to distract him from jumping off a bridge until additional officers would come to assist the officer to prevent a tragic event from happening that evening.
Three additional deputies were able to assist Officer Chirillo to take the teen to a local hospital to be treated for his mental illness.
I just wish that the media would show some respect to police officers who save persons from taking their own lives.
I hope that the teenager is able to find someone to advise him that life is worth living.

That is true since talking to a person who wants to end their own life is not an easy task.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we don't pay our officers nearly enough for all that they have to do. And I'm not saying that because I have loved ones and friends who are police officers.
I am glad he was able to engage the teen until they could take him to get the help he needs. My prayers are with the teen that he finds peace for his soul and for a hedge of protection for our officers who protect us everyday.

I'm so glad that they were able to talk the teenager down from the bridge.

I agree with you since the police in Dundee have been trained to deal with persons who need someone to assist them when they are on the verge of taking their own lives.

For me media has nothing to do with the help made by Hunter Chirillo to 17-year old teenager. They will only sensationalize it. God knows what Chirillo has done.
