What is the age difference between you and your significant other? Mine is a 3 and a half year difference I'm 29 and he's about to be 33... when we first got together I was about to be 17 and he was 20.. I've always felt there should be more of an age difference law then just you're legal at 18 although there should still be a legal age minimum...maybe 15 or 20 years ... making it fine for someone 50 to date someone 30 or something but I don't think someone 18 should be with someone old enough to be there parent or grandparent.. How do you feel about it?

7 years, She is younger than me but don't worry she is a legal age adult and she looks older than me due to unhealthy lifestyle and lack of Asian genes. When we met, I thought she is older and she thought I am younger.

The age gap between myself and my husband is 9 years and 5 months (I like to round it up to 10, while he prefers to round down to 9 ) I see your point about an age difference law but it would be difficult, I think, considering that both parties would be consenting adults (assuming they were both over 18). I do think it strange for people to have huge age gaps, but it clearly works sometimes. Where there are reasons to be cautious, that could be down to either party.

These are two different points to look at. Age Difference and Legal Age. Looking at age bar set for different types of activities in my country is as follows - 16 year old to drive gearless vehicle 18 year old to drive with gear 21 year old (men ) if you want to marry a girl 18 year old (women) if she want to marry. I remember there was a age bar created only for girl where anyone have s*x with a teenager (who is of course below 18 ) will be considered as RAPE. Which was a valid point looking at the situation of my country! Here in India, we think of marriage post completion of education and getting a job. If you are planning for Bachelor's Degree in India then it will be at 20-21 years of age ( After 10+2 years of schooling which is fixed, After that it will depend upon the courses you chose) . So post that it usually take 1 year to get a job. So I think that the calculation is correct for a men. I am still trying to understand what makes a girl legal for marriage that young. Marriage is something to do with compatibility, understanding, love, affection, commitment . So if you marry a 40-50 year old man. Indeed he will be able to understand more, show better commitment (maybe) but compatibility might be a problem. At young age you are thinking of enjoyment, freedom and adventure. And on other hand 40-50 year old is looking at stability comfort zone and relaxation. I am not saying that it can't happen but you will see at some point they will pull each other down. We have so many live example here where Man is over 50 and Girl is in Early 20 though society usually look at it differently! If they don't care about it then it doesn't matter right ? Sorry I made it too long! But I can a lot on this topic There is one more point which puzzles me is Usually Girl lives longer than her man. It's an observational statement.
