I have always wondered how people wanted to smell like fruits and flowers so much that most manufacturers make body wash and shampoos to smell fruity or flowery. Any insights into this aspect?

I do not care about frutis, but I like to smell like a gardenia flower, or a jasmine.

@pitstop I use "eau de cologne", not perfumes, my husband dislikes the scent of perfumes, they give him headaches.

People like nice smell, that's why. They probably did research on what people like the most and create the items based on that.

Seems to be most people who like it. I wonder how that started in the history of human beings.

Because it smells good? when you're bathing and smell something you liked, it would be relaxing. I know it's temporary, but so much better than smell like my sweat. I wonder why are you asking this, do you prefer smell like yourself?

For fruity scents, some smell good to me but some acutally are like a bit sour. I like the flower scents though.

Some of the fruits smell very strong and citrussy. Some manufacturers manage to get the right balance.

@pitstop I agree. I also heard that perfumes depend on it's chemical balance when applied to our body.

I think the smell is to make the product unique and more appealing to the person. While, I don't know if the sent of my body wash lingers on my skin after a bath, I do know I find different sents more present than others. It means the act of using the product more pleasing to the nose while applying.
