Did you have a Thanksgiving?

I know that a lot of people on myLot are not living in, or from the US, including myself. I had Monday off work, since it was the Japanese holiday known as "Thanks to the workers". Actually it just means that workers get a day off in November... the Japanese government has made sure that one holiday happens each month. Of course, the workers in retail, etc., do not get a day off on those days.
I taught school as usual on the Thursday that was Thanksgiving in the US. I didn't even think about it being Thanksgiving until the next day when Twitter lit up with feast pictures!
Anyway, I think, given the way the virus is spreading in the northern hemisphere, I would not want to go to any family gathering. In fact, I will probably ask my family, whom I have not met in person since March, to meet me in a park if they want to see me sometime for Christmas. We have been having Sunday dinner together on Zoom since then, and I really enjoy that! I don't want to be the one who brings back an unwelcome present into the school community (although I'm sure others may; I just would rather stay home).
Have you had any kind of holiday (Thanksgiving or otherwise) recently, with or without people?

Four of us are going to a concert tonight where a niece and her friend are part of a choir. We are living almost normal lives here as we've had no new cases for some weeks. However social distancing is still being observed. I feel sure the only way to beat the virus is to stay away from others.

Actually the day of Thanksgiving in the Philippines is the last day of September after celebrating a family week. It's PROCLAMATION NO. 847, s. 1996 - "DECLARING EVERY FOURTH SUNDAY OF SEPTEMBER AS FAMILY THANKSGIVING DAY".

we don't, but some do, like those who live in places where there's an expat community. same with halloween.
i think when you live for a long time overseas, you tend to remember the local events more.
is this once a month holiday paid or unpaid?
do those that have to work get holiday or overtime pay?

We don't celebrate thanksgiving here. But the last Eid Mubarak we just visited my mom and my mom in law for short time and went back home. We closed our door and didn't receive any guest
