String Lights and Safe Decorating

I did many book reviews on the topic of hygge as you probably remember from a discussion I made.
One thing repeated in these books was to string lights throughout your house.
How does one do this without having a fire hazard?
What lights do you buy? At what store?
I would love to decorate with string lights this winter season. Very cozy for my office and my bedroom.
Do you do this? Any tips?

@Spontaneo Are you saying you don't know what they are? There is a large variety. Ours are little LED ones all strung along maybe 20 metres of cord. I'll post a photo of them one day.

@JudyEv I am wondering if there are certain or specific string lights. Can you use string lights typically meant for a Christmas tree?
