Those gift boxes in the photo are parts of the decorations we place underneath our Christmas tree last year. We made those in addition with the gifts with real stuff. We made it so that there will be left until the day the decors are taken down for keeps.
I think we will not put up Christmas decors this time. It's just barely two weeks before the day. Or maybe we will just hang some lights to show some spirit.

I've heard of people doing that, but we never have. Now you can go to the store and find gift boxes made out of lights and wire.
I think hanging lights would be nice and you can keep them up until the new year if you wanted.

@ZedSmart It's a good idea. We usually let the skirt under the tree be the only decoration we need.

Put the trimmings, it's still Advent. We need cheer amid this depressing pandemia. Light up and fill the world with cheer. We just have to do it for those who are depressed, sick, dying, ones left behind, and the frontliners.

@ZedSmart The first Christmas was full of difficulty for Joseph and Mary who traveled the distance from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Joseph was on foot and Mary was saddled on a donkey, nine full months into Her pregnancy. There was no room at the inns when they arrived, and Joseph had to tidy up a manger where Mary could give birth. That was how miserable the situation was on the first Christmas. But the Christmas Star shone bright, the angels sang, the shepherds came to visit.
We have to light up, sing carols, and visit our Lord this Christmas.

My youngest daughter has already set up the old Christmas tree decorated with her collection of stuffed toys but there's no wrapped gifts underneath it.
