I Feel Like I am in A Glassy Aquarium...HA HA HA?!?

The company's staff can see us while having classes online. The main goal is to check the quality of the lessons with online students. We cannot see them and they can send messages through the chatbox. Sometimes I am feeling like in a glass aquarium. Honestly, it makes me uncomfortable. Would you feel the same thing? All those who work in public companies here are "monitored" while they work, this is our modern world.

I can understand if CCTVs are being installed in companies. In my company, they are inhuman. I sometimes received a message that is so obscene.

When I started working right after college, our office have glass walls in front and behind of our common work area. Behind those glass walls are the VP Finance and Finance Manager. It did feel like we're in the aquarium, being constantly under watch. It was uncomfortable and I can't help but be too self-conscious.

@Shavkat Yes, there are some people who are good at pretending to be busy and working hard the whole day, yet if you check their output they cannot produce anything. And then there are some people who seemed to be taking it easy but all their work gets done on time.

@Raine38 I agree. You can see this kind of situation for some employees who are working in local government agencies. Since I had worked in a local government agency in my city before, some of my colleagues are so lazy and ineffective with their jobs. The reason is that they are the product of nepotism.

Honestly, I will be feeling uncomfortable being checked behind these glasses. In my previous jobs, I never experienced being monitored like this. The performance is being evaluated based on tasks given and job responsibilities signed through the black-and-white contract.

It's pretty much like being watch through CCTV. So I guess I am used to it. I used to work in glass room. So it pretty much attract others' attention whenever they walked by. They could turn and stare for no reason too. Even the bosses would do that. We used to joke that we're fishes in the aquarium. There small fish, big fish, tall fish, pretty fish...

It is also my feeling caught in the sea and imprisoned in an aquarium. At least, you knew who are these people. The current job doesn't practice transparency.

I really don't like it. After this pandemic, I am going to find another online tutorial company to work with.

@RebeccasFarm I just felt sad because I've been working with them for more than 7 years now. They just don't know how to take good care of their virtual teachers.

When I taught, the principal could watch us teach through cameras in the room. I was always so busy, I never noticed.

I will be feeling so conscious when being monitored like this. It will be fine at least. For the reason that I know who I am going to talk with. Unlike in my company, they are so coward to reveal themselves.
