So bitter they are

I was so mad about a message from a relative whom was dissatisfied with their stay here last Dec. Their only reason is that we didn't prepared a huge feast during Christmas Day. Mom told me to calm down. But I couldn't stand it to the point of leaving the group chat.
If they're not happy then they shouldn't come back anymore, specially in this pandemic times. It came to the point that I'm happy with my daily boring peaceful days. We don't want toxic people here.

They expect your family to go big on Christmas because they are there? Are these relatives from abroad or just here? Maybe they should help shoulder with expenses and not expect you to do it all. Or maybe they discussed it before hand rather than discussing it now that it was a year over

Hello @rakski Yes they are. We are not rich and mom tries to budget every thing what were they expecting. I don't want to explain it as it has been explained before.

@Letranknight2015 that is why they should tell your mom or at least talk to her about that. And maybe if she really like to have a party. She should sponsor that

Unfortunately, some people, family, friends, and relatives included, are not content and have no sense of appreciation. If they have specific preferences, then maybe they should have brought something with them. The fact that you welcomed them into your home and gave them the best that you can should be appreciated.
Worry not my friend, this incident speaks more about their values and morals than yours. I am not worried about cutting out toxic and negative people in my life, no matter who they may be. I once cut my brother from my life and he realized his mistakes and apologized. Took us 2 years but those were peaceful 2 years for me. You have a responsibility to take care of your well-being, so if that means cutting them off, then I don't think nobody will think badly of you for it. I imagine this is not the only negativity that they tried to throw on you?

@Letranknight2015 Looks like they pandemic did something good after all.
Kidding aside, people like that do not deserve anymore of your hospitality. These people will always have something bad to say no matter what you do. Did they even thank you for the last time that you welcomed them in your home?

Hello @Raine38 I'm happy because they cannot come due to the pandemic they are stuck over there. They just don't care how hard it is to take care of grandma while they are there happy and celebrating their freedom. Not really me but to my mom, couldn't stand it anymore.

@Letranknight2015 I second the motion to what @Raine38 commented. Even if you try to give them what they want, they will still find something to complain about.

It wasn't easy taking them to such places and then hearing them complain still after a year, unacceptable @much2say

Hello @brokenbee What's the point of them going to church and praying to begin with if they don't appreciate the blessings they have.

I agree with you. If they weren't satisfied all they needed to do is not come back. Should not have to be bothered.

Pandemic or not, people should be grateful. Especially when they don't have to spend a single cents. They're already lucky that host provide the best for them. They shouldn't ask for it. Just because they're related by blood, they don't have to be rude about it. Those concept, 'we say this because we're related to you' don't exist for me.

Perhaps they were thinking that they were staying in a hotel that they can demand what they want because they have to pay for it :)
