The Boss is Lavish.

My husband boss is very meticulous and extravagant when it comes to company celebrations. They have quarterly kick-off party year round. It starts second week of January (start of the year kick-off, they call it), then April (summer outing/kick-off), then they rest for a while and then the Christmas party. All of those are normally out-of-town and overnight. They usually held it in a beach resort or resort type hotel. But this year, they only have the January kick-off and the rest you know already, did not happen due to covid. The company has been greatly affected, their collections were halted and some delayed. Today, the government do not allow Christmas party gatherings and celebrations. While they are not a big company they were able to celebrate it at their office. The usual giveaways from the company are all gone. They used to have gift checks give away aside from groceries, and raffle prizes of big prizes. All those are gone this time. They just ate at the office and have an exchange gifts.

It’s understandable that celebration was somewhat drastically changed by this pandemic. We just had finished ours too but its not face to face party but just virtual party. For food we took the jollibee virtual party pack where we have a set meals sent to our homes delivered and included a party host to entertain us plus balloons for us to cheer us up. Then after that hour long party online we had proceeded with another very ling online zoom party where some of us did an online video presentation. Cash raffles and our boss also declared to give us bonus even though we had a tough year to deal with. It gave us initiative to inspire to work harder next year.

@rakski Yeah was surprised that our president decided to go through it despite the hardship on our finances the past few months.

Yeah, the same thing goes for my siblings. No lavish parties this year. But my sister who is a public school teacher has a lot of bonuses and gift checks. Maybe government employees still have their privileges despite the pandemic?

Everything changes and got affected due to covid. But it's good thing they can still celebrate even just in office.

This pandemic really did a number on everyone. At least your husband's workplace was able to celebrate even though it's a low key one. Our company totally banned get together and pot lucks during this time.

Covid change a lot of things. Business closed, people lost their jobs, no celebration for big day. No friends or family gathering, no party too. Ate in the office and exchange gift maybe sound boring, but it keeps you safe.

@rakski I think party is not the essential of Christmas, but I don't know, I am not a Christian.
