Was it Hamilton Beach or Black and Decker?

I can't remember.
Several years ago I purchased a keurig. The coffeemaker was more for a family member than it was for me, but the person did not end up using it. I decided to get rid of the keurig because it was just taking up counter space.
I don't drink a lot of coffee, or at least I didn't. I wasn't able to drink it, but (knock on wood) I am able to drink more of it now. I buy Folgers Coffee in tea packet form. You are meant to microwave a cup of water with the sachet of coffee and then dunk the coffee sachet in the boiled water cup for about 15 seconds to help it steep (or brew, as the case may be). Anyway, the coffee isn't all that strong though it's better quality than the instant coffee's.
Long Story Short..
I need to get another Keurig, and I'm considering getting the dual 2/1 where you can do single serve k-cups OR a carafe of coffee. Does anyone here use that 2/1 keurig machine that has the option to drip brew in a carafe?

That is cool that the machine turned you into a coffee drinker.

Yes, well that and combined that my health has improved enough that I can enjoy a cup of coffee. I used to not drink any because it always gave me bad side effects afterwards.

@Hannihar I'd rather not go into details, but I'll say that the diet / lifestyle change was what helped it change.

So what changed that you want to drink it now?

I'm glad you still have a coffee maker in case you want to use it. Do you ever use coffee in any of your baking?

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, I use coffee or espresso when baking a moist chocolate cake or tiramisu.

I got rid of my drip maker years ago. I love my Keurig for a quick fresh cup. I recently bought a tiny one with a reusable filter to take with me traveling. I have those tiny fresh ground cans from Starbucks for that one. Camping, I love to perk over a fire with a camp pot. I'm not sure the reason for a drip and Keurig combo.

It does seem sort of silly to have the drip and keurig combo, but I guess a person might be more inclined to make a full pot on their day off and need just the single cup on days they are out of the house.
It's not a bad idea to have a coffeemaker you can travel with. You can't always be sure that a place you stop at will have a coffeemaker or decent coffee.

@noni1959 Oh wow $4 isn't bad at all. Yes, i feel like the coffee pots are the first thing to go when hotels are trying to cut back on expenses.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I got my little one I travel with when Amazon had a huge flash sale. It cost me something like $4. When I went to a hotel that normally had coffee pots and found there were none, I decided to travel with one from now on.

Sounds like it works well for you. I think I"m leaning more towards the 2 in 1 as it gives me the option to make more cups.

@paigea Ah. We don't compost here but I feel like I've read somewhere that coffee grounds are the most nutritious things for the soil.

@ScribbledAdNauseum we have a single serving French Press and a pot sized one. Kurugs Ard really nice do everyone can make coffee the strength they prefer.
I am compelled to dig the grounds out of each pod for the compost. The French Press makes that easier

@LindaOHio Same here. I don't like my coffee just plain. I will drink it that way if I have to, but it's not my favorite.

I didn't know they made coffee in the bags like tea. That's different! I haven't had one of those machines though, so can't help out with that. We just have a plain old 12 cup coffee maker.

It was just lucky that I found them. I very rarely go down the baking aisle and when I do, I don't usually look in that area. Now I grab a box every other shopping trip so I always have some.

@MommyOfEli2013 Yep. I make it a habit of looking in that area more often now. I also found monk fruit small packets that way as well.

No, I don't use a Keurig. I had one, and thought it was a nuisance. I like a regular ol Mr. Coffee or soemthing like that. If I eve r got another Keurig it would just be strickly a small slim one for a one cup treat.

Yeah, I got rid of mine for the same reason. It was just too much of a nuisance. I almost picked up a Mr. Coffee the other day when I was at walmart, but I like the idea of single serve coffee's better.

@snowy22315 I remember a few years ago when the single serve units were still pretty expensive.

My Keurig is the single-serve k-cups. But I have also been looking at the 2/1 option because I find that I drink a lot of coffee these days. Maybe I will put it on my Christmas list for next year for Santa to bring me.
I use those Folgers tea-packet things when I go camping and/or backpacking. Easy to carry, and makes a decent cup of coffee. Like you said...better than the instant variety.

Yeah, I'm glad I found those folgers tea packet things. I feel like Walmart has the 2 in 1 Keurig for less than $80.

@moffittjc Will do. I keep ping ponging back and forth on whether to get the 2 in 1 or the single, but I think it makes more sense to get the 2 in 1, especially since it's at a decent price.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's a really good deal for a 2-in-1 Keurig. I hope you end up getting it. And if you do, let us know how well it works! I might be interested in one as well.

That's okay. I like the idea of single serve coffee, but also the option for carafe coffee too.
