Yes, we still use one of those to keep track of contact information of family members. I know that we can plug these in our smart phones, but for some reason we find it better to have all these in our mailing station in my husband's home office. We just use a simple one, nothing fancy or anything special about it. I guess you can say we are old-fashioned, preferring the traditional pen and paper than electronic tools for organization. For some reason, I like how, over the years, we cross out old addresses and added the updated ones when family and friends move. It's like looking back and keeping track of records. I guess I am a sentimental fool for finding some sort of fascination over hand written records of addresses and contact information. For instance, a cousin of my husband used to live in California for decades. Now, they have been living in Alaska for the past five years. That in itself poses lots of questions from me, which is a good conversation starter. Also, we have one of his relatives who has changed spouses for four times it is a bit funny to find that beside his name are crossed out names of his exes. I am not saying that I find broken relationships funny, it's the fact that this small square piece of paper houses lots of stories than what I could have known in a conversation.

I'm like you, I have a 'Filofax' which I use as my address book. It came free when I opened my first bank account. It has had a replacement cover once and will shortly need another but other than that nothing has changed, when the pages get full I can just add more, I never remove any. And just like you, I like to look back and see the old information. Maybe a friend moves house and I think 'Oh didn't So-and-so used to live near here?' and I can go back to my address book and look it up.

Funny you mention that, because I also keep and use a filofax. I like writing things down - lists, appointments, reminders, even important stuff, like when I changed the oil filter of my car.

@Raine38 Also it's less easy to lose. So many people lost their mobile phone and then find they have lost all their contacts, photos etc and they're lost without it!

@Fleura Right? Thieves are more likely to swipe a mobile phone than a filofax. Especially one that is obviously stuffed with receipts and decorated with stickers.

It's actually better to have a backup such like that as it can help most of the times

It's better to have hard copy as backup. Soft copy can be unstable at times.

Absolutely. It's within our reach, and not prone to being hacked.

Thanks, but I am also doing this for my husband. He prefers everything he needed in one spot - so if he needs to mail something out, everything he needs is where he wants them to be: envelopes, stamps, addresses, etc.
