Update: Some good news

Last Monday, George got news that the ormand store he'd been working at for the past two years was closing as of the end of that day. No, he did not lose his job. Since his schedule had been set (no one knew until last Monday), he'd been allowed to work last weeks schedule at mainpath (one of two beachside locations). The manager there allowed him to work his schedule, but could not add him as a new employee, because she had no room. So sometime last week, she got in touch with the port orange store, and... got him put on their schedule. Today was his first day at Port Orange. Come to find out, that'll be his new store. So it looks like he'll start getting full time hours again with a mix of management and production. He's so happy to belong somewhere.

Actually close to 20 minutes away. Apart from work, we're close to everything else. Miles-wise, it's three tenths of a mile less. So, I guess that's good. Well, if Big Tree is behaving. When we lived in South Daytona, we almost always got hit by that light.

@kaylachan Not too bad at all. I had to drive at least that long if not more to get to work back in the day. Oh, those lights!!!!

Yeah. He started freaking out a bit, because he'd only been scheduled 21 hours this week. He's already picked up an extra 2 and a half. And has opportunity to pick up a few more. Won't be the 35 he's used to, but I imagine it'll be closer to 32.

@MarshaMusselman Due to the rushed closure, a lot of people had to be added to schedules last-minute. Orginally, he was supposed to go to mainpath, but Crystal didn't have room. So, Brian in port orange agreed to take him and had to add him last minute. There's also a trick that managers often do when they create schedules. You see, they are alotted so many hours labor. So, on paper, they'll write one thing. Based on business for the day, a person could work more or less hours scheduled for that day. My husband was able to work a bit longer than scheduled.

@kaylachan better than nothing. Is rather work 32 hours than my current forty. Maybe hell get more hours eventually.

It's only been a day, but to be told he won't need to look for a new unit next week makes him happy. He also found out, he'll be able to take on management shifts, too. He just needs to get adjusted to how the store operates because he hasn't been there.

@Raine38 Welll, he's already a manager. He kept his title and pay rates. So, can't really climb any higher on the ladder. Well, he could become official assistant or RGM (restaurant general manager), but he doesn't want to lose the hourly pay and have to work twice as long for less pay.

He's not to happy about it. But, that's only because it's been his first week. He thinks he won't be able to keep up. We'll have to wait and see.
