The night a snail tried to break into my house....

Hey everyone! I am using tonight to try and catch up with those I'm following as I'm so far behind. Right now I am reading a post by a very knowledgeable MyLotter known for his fascinating facts about Tidepool Critters, and this post was about snails. And it reminded me of the time a snail scared me. As silly as this sounds, I need you to try see this from my perspective because I'm not THAT fragile! This was when I was about 16 - 17 years old. I was going through a really rough time with a person in my life who was abusive towards me but pushing this aside, this story is something my dad still gets a kick out of. (he didn't know I was in this sort of relationship at this time by the way). So it was late at night, I was laying down in my bed and I could hear this weird sound coming from outside my window. And again, to touch base of what I said just above, I was in an abusive relationship which no one around me really knew about so I was already on edge. Also, just to add, this spawn of Satan was threatening to kill me and my family so yeah, as I was laying in my bed, I remember laying there in shock thinking it was my time to die. Morbid I know but this is how bad it was with that pr*ck. The sound reminded me of those glass cutters (not sure of the correct name, unless glass cutter is literally what they are called) but you know in movies when a robber is trying to cut glass and they stick that circle onto the glass and cut around it? One of those things. That's what this sound reminded me of and I thought someone was using one to open up my window. When I finally got the nerve to move I quickly ran to my dad and told him I could hear something right on my window outside! He came into my room, opened up my blinds and there it was....a snail....sliding ever so slowly down my window which was making that screechy, scratchy sound. Looking back at it now, I find it hilarious because I got worked up over a small (and slow!) creature.

I hear weird noises in my room now. Maybe it's also a snail. It's very late here and the noise is weird.

@dya80dya Weird! I wonder what it was. Have you ever heard it before? Do you have any idea what it could have been?

Poor Dani, you surely were stressed and on your nerves. Finally you did not know that it was only a snail, it could have been worse.

@VivaLaDani13 It is possible it was a sort of game for the snail.

@LadyDuck I am glad it was just an innocent little snail. I wonder if it was having fun sliding down a window.

I can understand how that sound creeped you out as you were in an apprehensive state of mind. Funny though

@jaboUK Yeah it's something I find funny now and I felt silly in the moment as well as a bit annoyed that I was THAT on edge. But so glad it was just a little snail.

That is so hilarious! Funny how things can have the simplest explanations, yet our minds blow everything out of proportion and we think it's the end of the world or something. Glad it was just a snail, although it sure was noisy.

@moffittjc I am glad you found this funny. It really is funny and I felt silly after the blinds were opened to see a little snail just sliding down like that.

A harmless creature it is but seeing it on a window glass may not be expected.

@franxav That's true. I mean I have seen snails randomly on windows or on doors or walls outside but at that particular moment, I wasn't expecting to see one just happily sliding down my window lol well I hope it was happy.

I understand your fear of strange night sounds, owl sounds that can make your sleep feel unsettled.

@May2k8 Funny enough I was talking to my neighbour recently about the first time I ever heard an owl. I had only heard them on TV and when I finally heard one for real, I was so excited! But yes otherwise, other strange noises makes me unsettled for sure!

@Metsrock69 It is. Though, right now it's been so hot, it's mainly pushing hot air around my room. But still better than nothing.

@VivaLaDani13 I can see why at the time with the abusive relationship how it can make you think things it makes sense to me how you felt. So what happened to the snail?

@Hannihar Thank you for understanding where I was coming from. I just let the snail be. It was on the outside of my window anyway so it was all good.

It's seems that you are very coward my dear. Just a snail can make you sleepless nights what about more dangerous creatures?

@Treborika I'm not sure if you read this right. I am NOT scared of a snail. I said that it was the noise I was hearing that scared me as I didn't know what the noise was. When I noticed it was a snail, I was glad that's all it was.

@Treborika It's ok. No worries at all. It was basically the sound the snail was making. I wasn't scared of the snail itself.
