Ordered Some More Bone Broth

Bone broth makes a good soup base, or to add some flavor to a dish. Sometimes I would use this when I am cooking rice. But I often sip bone broth as a meal. Bone broth is high in protein, like collagen. If I am feeling hungry but I know that it is almost meal time, I would sip some bone broth so I do not snack and overeat. I found this bone broth in a pack, that I just need to add boiling water, from Amazon. I am careful to make sure that this brand has little sodium and no sugar. My husband would tease me about this, he said it's just an expensive version of a chicken or beef bouillon. I prepared him a cup so he can taste and see for himself. After he finished with his cup, he asked for the packet and I saw him checking the nutritional information. Later, he asked if I can order him a chicken flavored bone broth. Now it was my turn to tease him. This afternoon, I received the chicken bone broth which I ordered per his request. It's also good. Now I'm thinking of making my chicken macaroni soup using this broth.

@Raine38 pandan leaves and lemongrass. Both would add aroma to the rice.

Try to add saffron as well if it is available. This can be pricey but the aroma of rice is so delectable. Sometimes I would use pandan leaves. The possibilities are endless.

Bone broth is indeed a delicious one, I like it too, and somehow it suppresses my appetite so that it doesn't get too much after sipping it, this is good for me, it turns out that you are a fan of bone broth too huh, nice to know

Yes, it definitely helps prevent overeating especially for me who is trying to lose some weight that I put on over the holidays.

Glad you found something you like. I tend to stay away from it, but still.

Never really aquired a taste. And seeing as broth in general is mainly liquid, tends to have me needing to use the restroom a lot more. Being in a wheelchair I'm sitting on my bladder a lot, so eating foods with a liquid base, not always the best.@Raine38

Really? Do you have any allergies to it, or is there something in it that may not be good for the health?

I do like bone broth, especially 'bulalo.' We had it during New Year's Eve. I am not fond of chicken that much.

Goodness, you're killing me here! My grandparents live in Batangas, where I had the best bulalo ever! It's been years since I had those.

@Shavkat Me too. If I want an authentic experience, I need to go there and visit my family again. Hopefully this pandemic will be over this year, I hope!

@Raine38 I hope you can have them there soon. Is this possible? I haven't been to Batangas. I hope I can try it there, too.

bouillon or cubes instantly came to mind, too. i'm glad there are healthier versions now. it reminds me of chicken feet. they say it also has collagen but you have to boil it for several hours.

I think they also used chicken feet and other flavorful parts of the chicken to make this. It comes in a resealable pack and looks like jello.

@Raine38 interesting. so the beef is also gel like? i guess they've found ways to preserve it and ship it as naturally as possible now

@hereandthere Yes, they are both gel-like. It's like you make "nilagang baka" and stored it in a tupperware. Then when you want to heat it up the broth has congealed like a gelatin.

Since finding out how much sodium bouillon cubes contain, I switched to bone broth.

Yes, and quite tasty too. At first you will miss the saltiness, but not if you realized how much sodium is in those chicken and beef cubes.

That is even better. Unfortunately I do not have the time nor the patience to make some from scratch. How long do you have to cook or boil it?

I like soup, but bone broth is too rich for me. I prefer something light.
