In search of an appropriate word.

While the world watched in horror as the Capitol of the United States of America was besieged by white supremacists, news people and commentators were in search of an appropriate word for what horrific event was transpiring right before the world's very eyes. Someone quipped Putin must be smiling. Of course. Xi Jing Pin, too. And Kim Jung Un. Gosh, I have to type those sinister names. Sigh. But was it a coup d' etat as one female representative called it? No. Definitely not. A coup d' etat is overthrowing the government from power. Was it an insurrection? No. Not quite. An insurrection is revolting against a government. Give it to the foulmouth of a liar and a con man to create an event yet needing an appropriate terminology to be entered in the dictionary for there never was yet an occasion in history when an incumbent incites violence against the people. The action of the incumbent was no doubt sedition. Problem is sedition must be against the authority. The foulmouth was supposed to be the authority.

I don't normally join in political discussions but what's going on in the US is horrendous.

@jaboUK I fully agree with you, not something I expected to see in that country.

I just saw the scenes about the encounter of the terrorists with the police inside the Capitol. Also learned that the objective was to hang Mike Pence publicly and shoot Pelosi in the head. Though we actually do our best to avoid the filthy demagoguery that had taken the United States to a very humbling point, the event at the Capitol was unspeakable that we are compelled to speak about it. Sigh.

@LadyDuck I couldn't veer away from American life and politics. All my siblings are Americans now and my brother is ill with CoViD.

I avoid the images on the news. I mute the news so I don't get to hear the voice. Neither do I like to talk about the creature. Why would mylot ban us if we talk about this despicable evil that has deceived many?

@LadyDuck Thank you for this reminder. Albeit I don't think the frank and truthful opinions we offer here about the madman that already caused gargantuan damage to the democracy that is America, disappointed and infuriated many a leader of the free world, are in any way 'Personal attacks, flaming, harassment, or trolling of any kind. followed by Any type of racist or discriminatory remarks.' What is it that we have written that have not been said in the international news. We merely reiterated what is internationally acknowledged. We are never trolls. If at all, we are here to clarify matters in the hope that those who had been misled could see facts.

What happened yesterday was really dismaying scene that lawlessness was encouraged by a sitting president desperate to stay in power. It is just disappointing that the supposed model for democracy is now in shambles because of this. I also am lost for words what to call these people that initiated the disruption of Congress to officially declare the winner of the elections they have last year.

@eileenleyva It is kind of funny that for just a few days in office an impeachment case will be filed against him.

@rsa101 Impeachment is a legal recourse. It is necessary in order to permanently ban that madman from running in any office again.

Yes, the siege was horrific. No exact term about an incumbent enticing a mob to put the government he was supposed to be protecting. But an impeachment had been drafted and I think the high crime is something like 'inciting insurrection.'
