A Full, Poor Day

There was an episode of the TV series M*A*S*H titled “A Full, Rich Day.” It was more of a full poor day for me. I was rudely awakened at 7:30 this morning by a phone call from the furnace company, informing me that the service men were on the way to install my new furnace. By the time I dragged myself out of bed they were here! I opened the door to the crawl space then went back to bed (hey, that was going to be the warm spot in the house until they got done!). Then, about 10:30 I was rudely awakened again by the furnace company....telling me they were done! That’s right, it took all of two and a quarter hours from when they got here to take out the old furnace (in a crawl space under the house) and put the new one in. Oh, and they did that right under my bed, while I’d fallen back asleep! So I wrote them out a check for a whole lotta money and sent them on their merry way. Then I got my tin cup and hit the street corner. (I’m kidding: it was “only” a little over $3,100; which, yes, is a lot of money at one pop but not if you’ve been saving up for that old furnace to eventually give out.) After that I went to Chuy’s for lunch, had a great chicken Mexi-Cobb salad, then headed to the VA hospital. I have a dental appointment on Monday, and part of the dental protocol is that a COVID test has to be done before the appointment. The poor lady tried in my deviated septum side first, and that got both of us nowhere (except a little blood from me), so she tried again in the “good” side of my nose and had success in tickling my brain. No blood...and no brain found. So that was my full, poor day. I came home and took a nap, and I’ve had dinner, so now it’s time for hot chocolate and a movie. Y’all have a great evening!!! Our house always needs a repair

You day was full. Glad you got a new furnace. may it keep you cool and warm for many years. Mom in law had to replace her 40 year unit last year. Her electric bill has been lower since, she's happy. Enjoy your hot chocolate and movie.

Wow. That's lot a money. Everything costs these days.

I hope I never need to have a COVID test. I don't really fancy having my brain tickled.

good that they called - that is a much safer way to contact customers than knocking on the door!
