My mobile camping setup

This is the third version of my truck camp. I can set it up in about 5 minutes. The frame is built out of pvc pipes and fittings. I cover the frame with a tarp that is silver on one side and brown on the other. The silver reflect the light inside the shelter. It is tall enough inside that I can move around without touching the tarp; the tarp doesn't breath so it collects condensation, which drips when touched. Between the lantern and my sleeping bag I stay toasty warm.

That looks good. I’m very minimal: I have memory foam cushions stuffed in an old sleeping bag to make a “mattress,” and it’s in the back of my SUV. It’s a great, comfortable place for a nap or a night.

The freedom this kind of camping gives is incredible. I can literally pull up under any tree and spend the night.

Thanks. I set it up with the granddaughter today for lunch. We made hot dogs and hot chocolate.

That's very inventive and obviously bigger than it looks if you can stand up. The reflective inside is a useful touch too. The condensation is a nuisance though - can you add some vents or something?

I cannot stand straight up, but I can bend over and move around quite easily. I have been brain storming for a vent idea that would not require cutting the tarp. I am heading out again tomorrow and I am going to try propping open a couple spots.

It is perfect for a solo trip. I have a tent for the rare occasion the wife wants to go.

I wonder if one of them could be pulled by a motorcycle. Camping in that has got to be better than in a tent. Looks cool,

Much better more roomy than a tent and mobile. I simply roll back the tarp, disconnect the pvc pipes and I am on my way to the next spot.

I stay within a three hour drive from my house. Just got back from a trip last night.
