Democrats are now the majority in the US Senate

Well. . . technically. For now it is a 50-50 tie between the Democrats and Republicans but the tie-breaking vote would be cast by Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. That means that the Democrats will be able to pass their agenda without the Republicans' approval. Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell (Republican) is no longer the "Senate Majority Leader" and he doesn't direct the action of the Senate any longer. Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer is now considered to be the majority leader. Should be interesting to see how things play out in the coming months.

I read that Schumer was discussing plans to “share” power with McConnell. As I said about Mitch, a lot of people don’t like him but he does have a track record of working with “the other side.” I think that shows a definite desire to heal and tone down the rhetoric.
