Another unknown creature landed on my porch railing this time a cute little bird to get at the bread on the railing. Officially known as the winter yellow-rumped warbler. These birds come to Florida to get away from the winter in the northern US and Canada.
They say they enjoy the woodlands here but I have yet to see any woodland but the little birds do enjoy flying through the palm trees and then landing on the porch railing and pecking at the bread. These birds have a pointed bill and when pecking at the bread if they peck too quickly the bread piece goes flying.
The main diet of these birds is eating and digesting the waxy seeds of bayberry which is abundant in the interdunal swales along the seashores. In the winter they have a subdued plumage blending in with the winter woodlands but in spring the get lovely yellow markings. Later on as spring progresses they'll return to their breeding grounds in the north.
I guess our Florida weather can be tricky because even though it isn't spring yet I did see a little warbler with some yellow plumage. I peek at them from the window in my front door and try not to frighten them away.

I love how the little ones carefully peck at the bread and later crumbs everywhere but it makes me smile @JudyEv

I leave the bread on my porch railing because there is no place to hang a feeder but if I can figure it out I might consider getting a feeder @Dena91 The birds and squirrels just show up and then I head to the Internet and find out what they are,

So many birds that used to visit our garden are nowhere to be seen. I really do not know the reason and that makes me sad.

Is it your permanent natural bird or a migratory one?
