Today I am posting another song about a train but this one a special song to me. When I was sitting in that giant Delta plane heading for Florida three years ago when I saw we were leaving the European continent after 20 years it kind of choked me up. Then when we got to the US shoreline the first thing that popped into my mind was this song and the words "Good morning America how are you?" The song is a country-folk song that was written by Steve Goodman and first recorded on his self-titled album in 1971. He wrote it to describe the train ride from Chicago to New Orleans on the Illinois Central Railroad. It has been recorded by many others but my favourite version is the one by Arlo Guthrie recorded in 1972.
A music video tribute with amazing images!

Being the Steve Goodman fan that I am, needless to say his version is my favorite.

I love this song, I have heard many versions as well. Johnny Cash covered it, and his is my favorite version.
