Short story: Mullah Nasruddin states the truth, but in an inflated way.

The Mullah was getting old.
He was not exercising as much as he should.
He was eating more than he should.
He put on a great deal of weight, topping the scales now at 105 kilos.
He used to be a thin man of only 78 kilos.
One day, an old friend of the Mullah's saw him in the market square.
He had not seen the Mullah for the long period of ten years, as he had been carrying out his business in another distant land.
He recognised the Mullah, though, in spite of his ballooning figure.
He said to the Mullah,
"How much do you weigh now? It looks like that you have put on some weight, over the years, since I last saw you, and you told me then that you weighed only 78 kilos. Surely, you look like you are that, plus half as much again now too."
The Mullah answered quickly.
"I am 78 kilos."
"You jest," said his old friend.
"What happened to your renowned honesty too? It's also ballooned away from you too, l see."
The Mullah replied,
"Honesty is about giving the same answer, without changing it to suit the occasion. I have done that. I am still the same 78 kilos, just inside a larger outer covering."

The Mullah, looking out to see, (and so to see sea here too, see picture) knows that inside of himself, he remains his real self, despite his outerness.

Thanks. It was written up humorously, a bit tongue in cheek.
But, we should never forget that the essential us is still always in whatever outer body we have.
God looks at the heart, more than he does the outer body.

@just4him We all have as well. Some teachings tell us that we also still have our inner child in us to.
Jesus told us to embrace this inner child, for such innocence is required to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

That's the truth of untruth. Lie is still a lie whether you sugar coat it.

Yes, that's true.
The Mullah was trying to point out that an embellished, or exaggerated truth, can still have the truth hidden somewhere underneath its embellishments too.
Like with some Christian sects, the truth is in there somewhere still, but well buried under their own additions.
Whereas, an embellished lie starts off as a lie, and always ends up staying one too, a lie, as you said too.

The Mullah was not too happy about his weight either, but when the friend said that he looked close to 120 kilograms, he thought that he would answer him in an oblique way, to show his friend that accuracy of truth goes both ways, and that his answer of 78 kilos, was actually more truthful, than his friend's overly exaggerated guess of 120, said only to goad the Mullah, and to see what his response might be.

@innertalks Yes, the friend caught the Mullah on the wrong foot, touched a raw nerve, so he thought.
But the Mullah was made of sterner stuff, not willing to give any leeway for the ten years in between, and wanted to put his friend in his place.
After all it is not for nothing that he is called the Mullah!.

@Shiva49 Thanks, siva. I have to be careful allowing the Mullah to slip up now, as you have placed him on such a high pedestal...lol...a bit of backpedalling was needed here to achieve that high status position once again, for our Mullah....
