Why does yahoo have more spam than gmail?

Seems to me that those with yahoo emails get way more spam than those with gmail emails. Why is that? I have both yahoo mail and gmail and I've experienced just that. With my dad's yahoo email it was even worse. I helped him reset his password recently and since I was in his account I went ahead and removed pretty much all the spam emails he had in his account. There were thousands upon thousands of them and they were all in his inbox. And I tried to unsubscribe from as many mailing lists as I could. It took hours. And I was exhausted. He would've never taken up this task himself. I don't remember if I checked his junk folder. I hope I did. Seems you go and sign up for one mailing list and then your email gets sold to others and you get bombarded with emails from places you've never subscribed to. Or you get bombarded with emails from somewhere you did subscribe. It is so annoying.

I have Spectrum email; and I hardly get any spam. They must have a good filter.

Do you not get spam emails at all or do they just go into the spam/junk folder?

I use both Yahoo and Gmail. I used to have spams but not anymore. I marked them all as spam. If it's from the one I subscribe, then it's my fault. I am the one who subscribe it.

@lovebuglena at first almost all to inbox. I keep on choosing to report them as spam. It take a while to be honest. The worst is Quora. Then I just go to Quora directly and unsubscribe everything.

Do they automatically go into the spam folder or do they no longer come at all?

@prinzcy I wish these emails didn't come at all. Not even to spam.

I usually check my emails from my phone not from my laptop, so I don't check the spam folder every day. But I do check emails multiple times a day and get rid of any crap. It's easy to delete from the spam folder in one shot but sometimes good emails go in there as well. so have to check that before selecting all and hitting delete.

I gave up on Yahoo after my account was hacked at least four times. I had to change every password each time. If they can't keep their site safe, then I decided not to stay there. I used a writing site on Yahoo that I did well at but when it went out of business, I bailed.
