Hi and Happy Thursday ?? I am on week 2 if the new work schedule and am not really feeling used to it yet. Tonight I work 2p to Midnight and it is my Tuesday.
Me and my sister just booked a flight to Tucson, AZ in March. We both had time off and the decision was between Utah and Arizona and we picked Arizona so we don’t have to drive so much (Utah would have entailed at least 6 hours of driving to get to the national parks we wanted to) and was just going to be a bit colder than we would like. An elevation is a bit high also.
So we are going to stay inside or just outside of Tucson, AZ and our trip is mostly to do a bunch of hiking around the area-there are a lot of parks. The main one I would like to check off the list is Saguaro National Park, but I know there are a few others in the area to check out also. Also, just a pool and hot tub and getting some different scenery is what I crave.
Have you ever been to this area of Arizona, Tucson? If so, I’d like to hear your experience- what you would suggest or not suggest, what were the best places to visit?
If you have never been there- let’s switch gears- have you taken a trip lately, or will you in the future? Or, what is the next destination you’d like to go to (regardless of whether it will happen soon or not?) happy daydreaming!

I can't travel very often because it takes such a toll on me. The furthest I've gone is to see my mother-in-law in Ovido. My husband and I tried to last year, but then covid happened and now no one that isn't staff are allowed in or out of the building my mother in law is staying in. Despite orders to open nursing homes up to the public.

@maezee My mother-in-law has altimzers and it's hard to have a conversation with her. And for some reason, we don't have the number of the home she's staying in. So.... that's mostly why we haven't talked to her. And, yes, it's legal. Businesses have the right to keep their doors closed if they want. However, if a family member wants to come get their parent or whatever, they cannot refuse. It's a complicated mess right now.

Sounds wonderful - I am quite envious of the warmth and the novel sights - and of just being able to go anywhere, basically!
I haven't been to the Tucson area, only to northern AZ and also UT. The one thing that really struck me when I crossed from one state to the other was that UT was incredibly tidy and AZ was badly littered. As we drove into Utah I remember there were 'Keep Utah tidy' signs and it was almost as if they said 'Keep Utah tidy - throw your litter in Arizona'! I wonder if that has improved since then?

Yes!! I am a little worried about crime rates in Tucson but I have been doing my darndest to do a lot of research about the areas we spend time in. I have only ever been to Phoenix (briefly), Sedona, Grand Canyon area, and Scottsdale - so I know I did NOT get the full picture of Arizona cities.
I didn't notice it being extra clean in Utah, but I do feel like Utah seems, in ways, like it has it's own culture.... I will let you know about the litter situation in southern AZ - if there is some in AZ, I am sure it will be in Tucson!!!
Do you do any day trips or anywhere near by you to check out or are you on total lock down?

I hope you get to see the park in March. Last year, we booked a trip to China but of course, that got canned once COVID hit us. We'll do a bit more travelling round our own state I guess.

I've been to Phoenix, my aunt and uncle lived there. Up to the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff and Scottsdale areas but not to Tuscan. Perhaps one day we can go back and visit those places we haven't. Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to hearing about it when you get back.
