First called, Butterdrop Do cookies, these cookies were invented at the Tollhouse Inn by a lady expecting the chocolate to melt
Ruth Wakefield placed broken up pieces of chocolate in her batter one day in the 1930's and unintentionally invented everyone's favorite (okay mostly everyone's) cookie.
The first chocolate chip cookies were no bigger than a quarter. Does that make anyone else think of the American cereal "cookie crisp"?

There's two more facts about chocolate chip cookies I never knew before.

I think there's a UK version of the cereal too but I can't remember what it's called.

Me too. I love soft cookies too. The keto chocolate chip cookies are a bit strange but I still love them.

@Tina30219 I have a tendency of taking the cookies out of the oven a few minutes early so that even when they harden they won't be too tough. The keto cookies use almond flour so that's just never going to happen.

@rebelann Oh yes, but those chocolate chip shortbread cookies tend to be made smaller. The ones I see in the store are anyway. Jammy Dodgers - short bread cookies with jam in the middle. I want to make some myself one day.

My favorite is oatmeal and raisin. But I must admit the smell of the tollhouse cookies rocks my world fresh out of the oven.

Yes and I am sure chocolate chip cookies were the predecessor to fruits and such being added to them too. One of my favorite cookies has cranberry raisins in them.

Do you like small morsels of chocolate or bigger chunks? I love bigger chunks but all of my friends like the smaller pieces.

@thelme55 Me too. I think it melts nicely in the cookie and gives it more flavor.
