Irving Police Detective Josh Smith is being praised by members of the Irving Police Department for his act of compassion when he was working on a case when a criminal with no heart of compassion toward a four year old boy destroyed his bicycle.
Smith then decided to team up with a charity named Team Texas For Families to purchase a new bicycle for the four year old boy named Nick as a way of keeping his oath to protect and serve the community where he is employed.
Nick who is the victim of the crime was grateful that a detective as well as a charity opened their hearts to replace a bicycle that was destroyed by a criminal who has no heart of compassion for children enjoying their toys.
It is not known if the criminal who wrecked Nick's bike was taken into custody or not.

I agree with you since Nick will likely want to be a police officer when he grows up.

I agree with you since it is for the police to assist young children who have their toys destroyed by heartless criminals.

Where's the parents of Nick? Is he an orphan?

I think that Nick lives with his parents even though the source of the story did not mention if he lives with his parents or not.
