We’re a big country – fires and floods

The last few days, I’ve been a bit obsessed about a bushfire that has been threatening my sister’s/nephew’s farmlet. They live just north of West Australia’s capital, Perth. They and their many goats had to be evacuated two days ago.
Meanwhile, in the north of the state, a cyclone has dropped torrential rain over a large area and there is major flooding. Planes are dropping supplies of food to those cut off by the floodwaters. The weather is such that heavy rains from the cyclone are expected to reach Perth tomorrow evening. This would bring welcome rain to the Perth area and give fire-fighters some respite.
The latest news from my nephew is that they will probably be allowed home tomorrow morning and hope to be settled in before the rain arrives. Thanks to all for their prayers, good wishes and positive thoughts. It is much appreciated.
Tomorrow, we’re driving to Pemberton further south to pick it up a fire-fighting outfit to have on our own place. I’ll post a photo of it once we’re home again. It isn’t massive but would be very useful should we ever have a fire here.
Photo is of our bus after travelling over roads that were fast becoming impassable because of heavy rain.

The rain can be very helpful. Hope they get to go home soon.

You have a bus! Do you transport a lot of people? I'm glad that your nephew will be returning home.

We fitted out a bus as a motor-home. We've sold it now. Here is a group of us sitting in it at a music festival we attended. The ladies are sitting each end of a single bed which became a table. There is a double bed (behind the red curtain), shower and toilet towards the back of the bus.

@LindaOHio You're welcome. I miss the bus sometimes but it was time for it to go.

Happy to know about your sister and nephew.
Yours is a vast country.
It would be good to have a fire fighting suit at your place. Better to be prepared. Would like to see a picture when you get it. Just to make sure that it's the same what I am thinking it to be.

These extremes are quite a load on Australians. Good to know you are safe.

My goodness the elements are pounding and battering Australia there Judy. Good idea to get that fire fighter outfit. Glad your family is okay though.

Thanks for the good wishes. Never a dull day is pretty true. Sorry about the rain but I guess you're resigned to it.

It might have been good if the storm changed direction and headed toward the forest fires.

@JudyEv That’s something good to look forward to and that would be a big relief for the firefighters.

It should rain there tomorrow and that will help douse the fire.

When we got back to the highway, they had closed the road and we were behind the 'Road Closed' sign.

However, I'm sure they're safe.
