Michael Martinez who lives with his parents in Atascocita Texas is being praised for alerting his parents and his other relatives who were sleeping in their beds that the smoke alarm was beeping loudly. Michael who has cerebral palsy crawled from his bedroom to his parents bedroom to alert them about the smoke alarm making a lot of noise. When his parents left the bedroom to find out what was the source of the noise coming from the smoke detector, they found out that poison gas was leaking from the stove. Thanks to the alert actions of Michael alerting his parents as well as the other family members who were inside the house taking a nap, had Michael not alerted them of the danger of inhaling poison gas which is odorless, they would have passed away.

I thought gasses in stoves were "flavoured" with an aroma that let humans know they were present. Live and learn.

I agree with you that some ovens are not "flavored" to pick up harmful fumes.

They must have been sleeping very soundly not to have heard the alarm. They are lucky that Michael heard it.

You are right since there are times where I have been in a deep sleep where I cannot hear my alarm clock go off.

I know what you mean since the effects of carbon monoxide gas is hard to detect.

They are lucky that Michael heard the alarm and was able to make his way to his parents' bedroom.

That's normal for anybody. Even animals could save people's lives.

I agree with you since Michael will likely be given an award from the city officials for heroism.
